1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I feel like this author time-traveled to write this book. The story is amazing, and I think it views our life in the world as now pretty okay and how we’re slowly shifting into a dystopia. The clothes, capital security, and all the issues are so similar to modern-day objects, clothes, and problems. A lot of their clothes are similar to the clothes celebrities wear at the Met Gale, the colors, the style, all of it. We share similar objects in a way, like how we have cyber trucks; the Hunger Games train looks similar, but not identical. They share exterior looks, and most people who have seen or read The Hunger Games will often think of cyber trucks as something from the setting of the book/movie. I truly believe this author wrote this to show our current state and future state.
2. The Maze Runner by James Dashner
This is such a good dystopian book and movie because of the story and how good the plot is. The relationship between the characters throughout all three books is interesting and conveys a great story of what the government could achieve if someday it came to us having memory loss to find a cure in order to save the world. It’s one of my top-ranking dystopian recommendations for books and movies.
3. Legend by Marie Lu
It has a great plot and, when I started reading this book, I could picture it like a movie in my mind. It could definitely be a great movie. I was hooked and interested from the start of the story. I often think about it and recommend it to people who have not read it but would like to read some dystopian books.
4. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
This book is great. It’s well written and has an amazing plot and intriguing characters. The backstory of the main character is interesting and creative, and the way her story fits in with the other characters is extremely compelling. I feel it is a good dystopian series, and it’s become very popular. It does contain a subplot of romance, which fits in with the story of the characters, but the entire series deals with dystopian topics. I do think that this book is a wonderful dystopian series and will continue to grow as the author publishes more novels with these characters
5. Divergent by Veronica Roth
Divergent is a great movie. The plot was interesting, and the way it conveyed modern issues was very compelling. It takes place in Chicago and is made up of six main sections. The main character, Tris, chooses a different faction than the one she was originally told to pick because her blood holds the strength of all the factions. I enjoyed watching it and reading it, but what I did not enjoy was that the last final movie was basically the first half of the last book and did not include the other half of it.
