OP-Ed What is the Best Spring Sport?

OP-Ed+What+is+the+Best+Spring+Sport%3F

What is the best spring sport? In my opinion, I think it’s baseball. Baseball is an extravagant sport that sets forth the overall strength and athleticism players must have to excel at this sport. From the precision of a well-placed pitch, to the power of a perfectly timed batting swing, every single aspect of baseball demands an extreme level of concentration and execution. Moreover, baseball’s strategic elements such as pitching matchups, field arrangements, and situational hitting all add levels of complexity that keeps viewers entertained throughout the innings played. Baseball is a sport that has been around for many years, aging back to the 1840s. The game has changed and evolved a lot throughout time. Players have focused more on different aspects of the game, such as situational hitting and off-season practice to work on more important structures of baseball. Over at Wauconda High School, the varsity baseball team has been dominating throughout this year. This team is one of the best out of the sports played at Wauconda. Player Tyler Tylka stated, “I like how simple the game is, it’s pretty straight forward.” Baseball is definitely one of the more laid back sports, but it’s still very fun to watch and play. My favorite things about baseball are watching people hit home-runs, turning double plays, and making sliding catches. Those are all very fun to watch. Baseball really is just a unique sport and there’s a variety of different positions played which makes the game so fun to watch.
