Wrestling Team Wins Conference

Wauconda High School’s Wrestling Team Won Conference and is Still Fighting
Wrestling+Team+Wins+Conference

The Wauconda wrestling team has remained undefeated throughout their 2023-2024 season. They have had a hard fought season with some key wrestlers in Gavin Rockey and Nick Cheshier. Wrestling for the past few years has been one of Wauconda High School’s strongest athletic accomplishments. Placing 3rd in team state last year Wauconda wrestling is headed in the same direction this 2024 season. The team has worked tirelessly to be the best they can be. Coach Jauch stated, “Being crowned conference champs always feels good. I am extremely happy with how our guys competed yesterday and secured the conference title. This is just a stepping stone to our overall goals as a team and as a coach.” This quote is an example showing how hard this team has worked. Wrestling is a sport like no other. With it being physically and mentally draining, having to spend hours after school mastering different techniques, and having to perform under pressure, this is a very challenging sport. Nick Cheshier tells us, “I stayed focused in my training and made sure to stay calm under pressure.” Gavin Rockey said,  “I feel like we had it in us all year. This will only boost our confidence and bring our team closer.”
