Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Other Scientific Careers
From anatomy to geology there are hundreds of types of science. No matter your interest there is a career in science for you. But, the real question is: where do you go to college to study science?
There are far too many fields of science and colleges to study at, so I chose to cover the fields students said were their favorites. Starting off with astronomy; the study of space and the universe as a whole. First off is Harvard University, with an average acceptance rate of 4% and an average cost of $14,000 after aid they have regular astronomy courses and summer courses. However, a choice closer to home is the University of Chicago. They have an acceptance rate of 6% and an average cost of $29,000 after aid. The University has a Ph.D. course in Astronomy and Astrophysics along with many current research projects. A cheaper option is the University of Florida with an average cost of $5,132 after aid and an acceptance rate of 30%. This university has both in-person and online options so you dont have to worry about traveling far. In the end, there are many colleges and universities to study at and these are just a few.
The second most liked subject of science by the students asked was physics. There are many sub-fields of physics so these colleges are general colleges in the field. The California Institute of Technology is not only in the warm state of California but also covers many areas of both physics and other fields of science. They are more expensive with an average cost of $27,000 after aid but the school has been known for technological advancements and scientific breakthroughs. A less expensive option is Princeton University with an average cost of $9,836 after aid and an acceptance rate of 4%. This school is not specifically a science college but that’s not a bad thing. It’s always good to expand your horizons and try new classes and subjects. There are so many options for school when it comes to physics because it is such a diverse field so these are just two of many options.
Finally is chemistry, the study of the properties and behavior of matter. First up is the University of Idaho ranked the number 1 public university in the West since 2020 according to the US. News and World Report. Their tuition cost after aid is about $14,000 on average and their acceptance rate is 81%. Another option is once again the California Institute of Technology since they’re a jack of all trades when it comes to science. They also have one of the top-ranked chemistry programs in the United States according to the US. News and World Report. Overall, there are many schools to study at if you’re interested in chemistry.
In the end, there are hundreds of universities and colleges to look into if you’re interested in science and you shouldn’t limit yourself to the ones mentioned in this article.
