
Wauconda High School is proudly celebrating a 57-36 victory over Vernon Hills, securing the 3A Regional Championship on Friday, February 27th. The Bulldogs relied on consistent defence, taking control of the game and securing the win.
The bulldogs delivered a determined and high-energy performance, keeping fans on their feet until the final buzzer. Tony Salemi contributed 7 points and highlighted his impact with 5 important blocks, guarding the rim and altering the momentum at critical times for the Dogs. Austin Carlsen contributed 6 points and 4 assists, helping to keep the offense moving and the pressure on the Cougars. The Cougars found it challenging to guard Alex Ortega because of his excellent play and ability to make some tough shots.
After having a close first quarter, Wauconda closed the first half on a strong run and carried the intensity into the final two quarters. With the Regional plaque secured, the Bulldogs now advance with confidence, backed by a performance defined by teamwork and discipline.
