What is Girls Varsity Soccer Up to?
The soccer season is looking pretty good so far. The girls have kept a steady record holding a 4-2-2. This is really positive given how many players graduated last year. “In terms of our record, I think this is about what we expected right now. We have won a few games and had a lot of really close results. We were expecting very few easy games this year,” Coach Shogren said. On another hand, there have already been injuries this season with starter Kenna Wisnewski spraining her ankle and knee in the Johnsburg game, and another starter, Ava Dubach, with her long-lasting hip injury from last season. They are luckily stable enough to play, but it’s still bothersome. The girls have a chance at winning the conference and they are proving it each day. Coach Shogren believes that “As of right now, we control our fate in the conference. If we win the rest of the games on our schedule we will be champs. We can’t have any letdowns and no more draws. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to get that done, but I am happy where we are right now.” The girls need to continue to work hard and finish the season off strong! Go Wauconda!
